How does it work?
1. The patient asks if they should get a second opinion.
They’re unsure about surgery and turn to you for guidance.
2. You share your affiliate QR code or referral link.
(That’s it—your part takes less than 2 minutes.)
3. The patient uploads their medical records (imaging + brief history)
through our secure, HIPAA-compliant portal.
4. A board-certified orthopedic surgeon reviews the case and delivers a
detailed written + video second opinion within 48–72 hours.
5. The patient receives their results and decides—with clarity—whether to
schedule surgery, seek alternatives, or stay the course.
Is XPRT2ND HIPAA‑compliant?
Yes. All data are encrypted in transit and at rest, and the platform meets or exceeds HIPAA, HITECH, and GDPR requirements.
Is XPRT2ND only for PTs?
No—XPRT2ND is open to licensed healthcare professionals beyond just PTs.
Occupational Therapists (OTs), Athletic Trainers (ATs), and other certified movement or rehab specialists are welcome to join. If you work directly with patients and want to advocate for better surgical decisions, you're a great fit. Yes! PTs earn $50 for every qualified second-opinion referral.

Will this add paperwork or extra clients to my workload?
No. Referring a patient takes less than two minutes.

I usually get referrals from surgeons. How does it work when I refer to one through XPRT2ND?

Can non-PT clinicians refer to XPRT2ND?
Yes—OTs, ATCs, chiropractors, primary care and other licensed providers can join the referral program.
How are referrals tracked and paid out?
Every referral is tracked in your partner dashboard. Payouts are processed monthly via your chosen method.
Will XPRT2ND disrupt my plan of care?
No. Opinions are designed to support conservative care and inform surgical decisions; we keep you in the loop.

For Patients
Should I get a second opinion before orthopedic surgery?
Yes—especially for spine, joint replacement, repeat surgery, or when you’re unsure about risks vs. benefits. A second opinion can confirm the plan, suggest alternatives, or flag red-flags so you can decide with confidence.
How fast will I get my second opinion?
Most cases are completed within 48–72 hours after your records are uploaded. Complex cases may take a bit longer; we’ll update you in the portal.
How do I join?
A clear, plain-English written report + a short video from a board-certified orthopedic surgeon that explains the findings, options (surgical and non-surgical), and recommended next steps.
Will the surgeon be offended if I ask for a second opinion?
No. Second opinions are standard in medicine. Good surgeons welcome them—it helps patients make informed choices.
Is XPRT2ND covered by insurance?
XPRT2ND is cash-pay. You may be able to use HSA/FSA funds and submit our receipt to your insurer for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
What conditions are best for a second opinion?
Common: spine surgery, knee replacement/meniscus, hip replacement/labral tears, shoulder rotator cuff, foot/ankle, pediatric ortho, and repeat surgeries.
Can I use XPRT2ND if I don’t have a PT?
Yes. Patients can self-refer—no referral is required.
What if I don’t have all my records yet?
Upload what you have (imaging reports, MRI/CD, clinic notes). If anything’s missing, we’ll notify you and help you request it.
Will you talk to my current doctor or PT?
With your permission, we can share your report and coordinate with your care team so everyone’s aligned.
Can I ask follow-up questions after I get the opinion?
Yes. You’ll have a 7-day window for one round of clarifying questions via the portal.
Do you prescribe or perform surgery?
XPRT2ND provides independent opinions only. We don’t prescribe medication or perform surgery. If you want to move forward, we can refer you locally or coordinate with your existing surgeon.

Who are the surgeons providing opinions?
U.S. board-certified orthopedic surgeons with active clinical practice and subspecialty expertise (spine, sports, joint replacement, foot & ankle, shoulder/elbow, pediatrics). Each case is matched to the right specialist.
How do you protect my data?
We use a HIPAA-compliant portal; data are encrypted at rest and in transit. Access is limited to your care team and the assigned surgeon.
Are the opinions unbiased?
Yes. Surgeons are not incentivized to sell procedures. Their role is to give an objective review of your diagnosis and options.
Process & Logistics
What files do I need to upload?
Recent notes, radiology reports (MRI/X-ray/CT), and—if available—DICOM imaging. You can drag-and-drop files or upload a CD/ZIP.
How do I share a hospital CD?
Use our uploader to add the DICOM folder or ZIP. If you’re stuck, we’ll send a step-by-step guide.
Can I get a second opinion if I already scheduled surgery?
Yes. Many patients use XPRT2ND before the surgery date to confirm or adjust the plan.
Do you offer rush service?
